Reviews

pauljaygrace Battery Park was one of the few Hollywood produced sit-com where 7 out of 10 scenes were four camera scenes. This was the brain child of producer David Gary Goldberg. The effect gave the 30 min shows final product a special look a la the comedy counter part to NYPD Blues with it's one camera hand held view. Since four cameras were almost unheard of at the time - the cast and crew had adjustments to make from the pilot well into the third episode. An under rated show with an underrated cast with one of the best sit com producers, directors and crew in television. The "B" list cast, while excellent could not compete with the balance of the Thursday night line up on other networks.
Eric Carlson "Battery Park" was easily the best show to hit the NBC Thursday night line-up when it was a ratings topper in the mid/late '90s. "Battery Park" was in some ways a counterpart to "NYPD Blue". While "Blue" had a gritty atmosphere, "Park" had comedy injected. The cast was made almost entirely of no-name stars, but the mix of sharp humor and rapid-fire action made for a top-notch series. Sadly, the show only made it through a handful of episodes. If you enjoyed cop comedies like K-9 or Dan Aykroyd's Dragnet update, catch the series if you get the chance.
