Reviews

Leif Beaton Just watched the pilot, and I am torn. Usually I rather like this kind of show, but the monumentally stiff acting of leading man Jake McLaughlin is quite unbearable. The rest of the ensemble (bar the female antagonist) does a fully passable job, and the plot does seem interesting. I might give episode 2 a chance in the hopes that Mr. McLaughlin grows into his part. He's not the only bad part about the pilot; the editing is uneven at best and the action sequences are so poorly choreographed it borders on slapstick comedy. Finally; the female antagonist might want to change her career, perhaps voice acting is more her speed.
robin_should It's funny but sometimes you really do have to give some things a chance and when Believe started I liked it but was not quite sure whether it would take the right turns. For me it did, I really enjoyed the rapport between Bo and Tate, it seemed to get better each week. I watched mainly because of their characters and would have liked to see more of their relationship, Bo becoming a teenager, maybe Tate and a girlfriend, who knows, and no-one ever will as is usual good things get cancelled by the powers that be. Not everyone is between 16-30, not everyone likes to be rushed into things, some people like things to develop at a slower pace. I take my hat off to Johhny Sequoyah for being believable, no pun intentioned, and Jake McLaughlin for his great performance as a troubled Dad. Guys I'll miss you.
Kristenw17 Its refreshing to see a show that not only isn't completely predictable, but which also gives off a vibe of being exciting and action packed. Its not all action, and its not all science fiction. Its a mix of the good qualities that any genre of television can provide. Action, humor, science fiction, etc; but without the repetitive nature that seems to come with following a specific genres motifs. Every cop show gives off the same vibe as any other cop show. Believe's vibe is one of a kind that breaks free of genre stereotypes. At least the stereotypes that I worry about. ;) In particular the best aspect of this show, in my opinion, is the innocence of its main character. Too many shows today are about the shock factor to real in viewers. Believe, like any other show, has some of the usual cliques to draw in viewers. But it still provides aspects that are refreshing and wholesome in nature. After all whats better than remembering the good in humanity while watching some cute and exciting television?
rahscoh-987-573660 Two stars for having Delroy Lindo in it. I think he's pretty versatile & rate him up there w/ Alfred Molina, Roscoe Lee Browne, Rod Steiger, Robert Shaw n the like. In this show even he can't help, it's like a movie about the tooth fairy only shorter n sappier, besides Sister Bertrille has already been done!. After watching an episode I feel like washing up like I opened a jar of honey or something, it's just too frilly (the writing) and it's not like they don't have enough problems of their own going' on (which could be solved by a trip to a race track or casino if ya had her abilities) but they gotta be guardian angels n such, not very plausible!... P.S. wanna see a good Delroy vehicle? try Wondrous Oblivion, just my two centavos.
