cathylr Let´s be honest: this show as only to use the success that Friends once had. Although I used to be fond of the first seasons of the latest, it had lost a lot of its energy. Yet, out of curiosity, I decided to watch Joey. If the first season was rather funny as it was bringing new characters, season 2 is of no interest whatsoever: the jokes are predictable and easy, the characters are becoming superficial, and the scripts very light. I believe the show got cancelled shortly after I decided not to waste further of my time on this.
lanadavis-43758 Shana Goldberg-Meehan is what is wrong with Hollywood. Her dad was "David Garry Goldberg" who created the Reagan Era Hit "Family Ties". So she never had to "Work her way up in Hollywood". Because her career was handed to her she was able to land great jobs that should have gone somebody else more talented. SHe was given way too much credit for "Friends". All of her scripts were rumored to have been re-written by the real writers. When the show "Friends" came to an end the main creators of the show had nothing to do with "Joey". Shana Goldberg-Meehan help create the show and it was a creative and ratings disaster. Shana Goldberg- Meehan lack of talent help sink the show, Not only did she create it she was also the show runner.Joey was a pointless spin-off and its characters had no depth. It lacked a main focus and the shows ratings were sinking every week. NBC gave this show a 2 year commitment. So Shana Goldberg-Meehan was replaced for the 2nd Season but the show was more focused but still just as average as any "Caroline in the City" episode.Shana Goldberg-Meehan went on to create the ABC show "Better WIth You" and Shana Goldberg-Meehan created another loser. A show with bad lines and poorly developed characters. She now is a creative consultant on "Speechless" and lets hope she is kept out of the writers room.
satviksehgal Review about the show Joey. This is the first time I am writing a review for a sit-com. Guess most of it I owe it to Friends because Joey was my Favorite character on the show, Joey and Chandler together were hilarious and today when I look back and see almost all of them unemployed, A part of me dies inside. They did gave us a lot of memories especially Joey. I to this day think that the friends ended was almost perfect with just 1 flaw and that was Joey not having anyone in his life and Chandler and Monica moving into a countryside house and Ross and Rachel together(FINALLY), Pheobe already married to Mike. Now in all this whom did Joey had???The answer is simple and that is nobody. Some part of it was answered by the show Joey where in Joey moves to LA to pursue his acting career. Makes a good friend in Alex. (Super cute). And his extended family in Micheal (Too Boring) and his sister Gina (she is smoking hot). And yes there's that agent Bobby also but I don't find her part very important though.Joey as a show is good, Not Great ,It has its own moments of Joy and that feel good nostalgia but again It would be impractical for me to compare Joey with Friends. I'll try to be as impartial as I can be but some real disappointments that I have seen on the show are for 1 the set they use – An Awesome gallery(with a bath tub, very very cool, depicts the modern LA culture) but then Joey's apartment ,during the first 10 ten shows all I get to see is the living room and the open kitchen. This isn't cool. I am not comparing it to Friends now (where we got to see 2 living rooms, sometimes 3 with Ross apartment in the picture but moreover the bedrooms of Monica, Joey, Rachel, Chandler etc) but some other famous sit-coms like Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men and the recently concluded How I met Your Mother (also had glimpses of kitchen, Bar, Ted's bedroom, Barney's Apartment). All these shows display an entire house/apartment which makes the viewer believe that it is actually a day to day based sit-com and not a TV set with a couple of couches in a room and actors hanging out there . Another problem with Joey is that although Matt LeBlanc is at ease with his portrayal of Joey, All the others have a very little role to play in it ,have for eg Michael- He really needs to calm down from being the Geek he is, wasn't the whole point of him moving in Joey was to pick up girls and live his life independently . This is where the whole plot gets misguided. Now Alex ,her private life is hardly shown here , I mean not 1 scene about her life with her husband . Gina (super hot) and yes sparkling with her enthusiasm is one plus point on the show. The humor content hasn't been also up to the mark like after watching straight 10 episodes of season 1 ,I barely can recall 1 scene or 2 that had my heart laugh out, Now in Friends(Yes, I know I shouldn't compare the 2 but still) I remember the show when Joey had gone to an audition where he really had to rush to the washroom but the casting director/ actor din't let him go and joey gave the performance (LOL), Another instances involved where Joey and Chandler got the Chick and Duck, The one where Joey had his head stuck inside a Turkey and lots and lots of them. Even after writing so much criticism about the show I'd still continue to watch Joey Season 1 and will also download Season 2 of it.All this just for Matt Le Blanc. And last but definitely not the least I hope to see Joey say it to Alex- How You Doin'??Cheers
kyle-loves-brooke Joey is a wonderfully entertaining sit com featuring everybody's favorite Friends character, Joey Tribbiani. The show centers around Joey's big move from New York City to Los Angeles in order to further his acting career. On the way he reunites with his surprisingly similar sister, Gina. Her brilliant adult son, Michael as well as his stereotypically white neighbor, Alex and his quirky, outrageous agent, Bobbie. While the show may be considerably different from Friends it makes up for it with it's considerable entertainment value. And while Matt Le Blanc may have been Friend's consistent comic relief, the gears have changed, giving characters like Gina and Bobbie the spotlight in that category while Joey becomes more of an adviser to the characters (not that Joey doesn't need advice himself every now and again). While the ensemble cast is extraordinary, it is the female cast members that truly make the show special. Cast members like Drea De Matteo (Gina), Andrea Anders (Alex) and Jennifer Coolidge (Bobbie) that use their unique comedic styles to keep audience members laughing from beginning to end. In conclusion, Joey is an endearing comedy, enjoyable for all viewers.
