texxas-1 I watched this since it first came out and I still love it now the way I loved it then. As a teen Hillary Duff was very pretty without being tall and thin, this shows girls (well at least it showed me) that you can be beautiful without looking like a supermodel. The character Lizzie is very likable, pretty and stylish. She wears a lot of colourful clothes and her hair is always styled in a complicated fun way. The problem with this show is it doesn't really help teens with the struggles of school, since Lizzie's problems are very light-heated and always seem to be resolved in the end. Real life is a lot more complicated than that. When I was struggling with the horrors of school I'd wish that my problems were as simple as Lizzie's, her only experience with bullying is from ex best friend Kate, but shes more of a catty mean girl than anything else. Each episode always has a subplot with Lizzies little brother Matt which I think hurts the show, I always find that part boring and annoying. The show is very left wing, one of Lizzie's best friend is portrayed as Mexican (the the actress is actually half Philippino) and the other is Jewish. I still watch this show as an adult and enjoy it a lot, it's really feel good and you feel happy and optimistic once you're done watching it.
snperera Hilary Duff is so great in this show. She has to be one of the most likable characters on a show ever!!! And her friends are awesome too Gordo and Miranda are so fun and charming and have great energy and personalities and I love them so much! I will always love this show for how simple it was and how it showed some great messages in it as well. I will never forget this show.
bkoganbing Lizzie McGuire had its normal Disney Channel run of three years. Rare that a program goes over that, rarer that they're canceled before. It seems that's the required run for one of their teen shows. Sometimes like in Lizzie McGuire's case you get a television movie made of it.Some are better than others and Lizzie McGuire was not half bad. It had an interesting gimmick and an appealing star. The gimmick goes all the way back to Strange Interlude where the players speak their real thoughts as they turn to the audience. In fact Eugene O'Neill and no one less is responsible for the animated Lizzie who would pop up two or three times an episode and reveal her inner most thoughts. The second was the wholesome appeal of Hilary Duff in the title role. Her family consisted of super normal parents Robert Carradine and Hallie Todd, no idiot genes here. Her younger brother Jake Thomas was a wild child, but in normal boundaries. And she had her two best friends Lalaine and Adam Lamberg. They did everything as a trio, in fact they were their own set as they described in one episode about how schools just divide naturally into cliques. Then there was an extended cast that appeared in various episodes other kids and teachers. All in all it was a pleasant half hour viewing. And from The Magic Kingdom I expect just that and nothing more.
nshine I watched this show a lot when I was little (6,7,8). I looked up to Lizzie and her group of friends, and I adored everything about this show. This show is about a middle schooler named Lizzie who has a normal life-Embarrassing parents, an annoying little brother, two best friends, a worst enemy, and a crush on the hottest guy in school. Her parents are loving and supportive, but are sometimes overprotective. Her brother Matt always is getting into trouble and shenanigans. Her two best friends are Gordo and Miranda. Gordo is a typical smart, more mature guy. Not only is he extremely smart, he doesn't care what other people think of him, and he always gives Lizzie the best advice. Miranda, Lizzie's other best friend, is a lot like Lizzie, but more superficial, and she cares a lot about being popular. Lizzie has to deal with the head cheerleader/most popular girl in school, Kate, whom she was former BFF's with. Kate insults her and her friends a lot, but shows a softer side sometimes. Ethan is the hottest and most popular guy in school, whom Lizzie and Miranda chase after for years. Although he's good looking, he's a complete blockhead, and really dense.Lizzie usually gets herself in situations that are somewhat typical, but still tough to figure out. The situations sometimes are small, (a nerdy guy asking her out, not being good at any sport, being unpopular) but sometimes the situations are bigger, and much tougher (sneaking into an R-rated movie, buying your first bra, shoplifting, getting 11 pictures in the yearbook). Either way, I learned a lot from this show. Lizzie's parents give good advice, but its usually her best friend Gordo (who, by the way, was my first TV crush) who gives her the best advice.Everyone judges Disney for having cheesy shows, but this one isn't as cheesy as some of the more recent Disney shows (Cory in the House, Wizards, Suite Life on deck etc...). This is a good, wholesome family show. Lizzie Mcguire was a huge part of my childhood, seeing the Lizzie Mcguire Movie was a very exciting day for me. Sure, there are some insane plots, like when Lizzie dates Frankie Muniz (from Malcolm in the Middle), or when she kisses Aaron Carter and gets to be in his music video. But the rest of the episodes deal with real drama that comes up in every teenager's life. This show taught me a lot about life, and its funny. When I got into middle school, I actually saw myself dealing with a lot of the same problems Lizzie dealt with (first boyfriend, popularity issues, finding yourself). I thought that my life would be like Lizzie's when I got into middle school. I thought that I would have two close besties, a worst enemy, and a crush I could barely talk to. I had one of three things. My life was very different from Lizzie's in middle school, and that made me sad.Another reason I loved this show when I was little because I thought everyone else's' life was like Lizzie's. I thought that everyone had the perfect, upper-middle class family and everyone had the two besties. My family is the opposite of Lizzie's and is somewhat dysfunctional. It helped me escape, even if it was only for awhile. This show showed me what was normal in life, and it kept my childhood happy.I wish this show hadn't been canceled. Disney still plays crap like 'Suite Life' and 'Hannah Montana' when both of those shows suck. They should've kept this show going for awhile. It's a lot more realistic then Wizards undercover, a girl hiding as a popstar or kids living in a hotel or kids living in the white house. Real life, please. Some problems I have with 'Lizzie' are 1) The fact that Lizzie is sometimes superficial, and cares WAY too much about being popular 2) It has a lot of clichés in it 3) There are some episodes that are insane, and stuff that probably wouldn't happen to teens. (Most teens wouldn't get to kiss Aaron Carter or date Frankie Muniz)The best 'Lizzie' episodes are 'Lizzie's Eleven' 'Bye Bye Hillridge Junior High' 'First Kiss' "Grubby Gulch' 'Party Over Here' 'Come Fly With Me' 'Aaron Carter's coming to Town' and the one where Gordo and that one chick dance to Mozart. I recommend that all kids and preteens watch this show, because it's hilarious, and teaches you a lot about life. And the best part was the ending, when Gordo and Lizzie FINALLY get together :)
