Reviews

defmuse Im a huge fan of Sharlto Copley & Eddie Izzard... to the point where I will watch anything by them. This show has kind of altered this appreciation & enjoyment.I was not expecting Powers to be THIS cringe-worthy. Every sing episode: the dialogue was awful. Something out of a high school film project.Cheesy dialogue, awful acting, and amateurish editing (video & audio - all of season 2, there is heavy large-empty-hallway-type reverb on most conversations taking place outdoors - I thought it was was my download, but I rented the Bluray, and its the same), Lets not forget pointing out the over-exaggerated acting by Susan Heyward (her melodramatic " what the f*** " response to EVERYTHING, during almost all episodes), Adam Godley, Andrew Sensenig, and Eddie Izzard. The CGI is b-grade at best, including the cosplay costumes. However, if you're like me (a sci-fi / fantasy fanatic), you're still going to watch this, and enjoy it, even while being enveloped by cheese.
wolfspawn-39318 I had to write a review here, after reading all the reviews of this series. Everybody is suddenly an expert on all things, acting, scripts, etcetera. I am a viewer and i enjoy things from that perspective. This series has promise, i like the way they look at superheroes or powered people. I've seen heroes and all the other superhero series, but this an unique view on the genre. In the reviews of American based viewers they speak of cursing and saying the F word, i don't mind this, but in other countries we think differently. So that's no problem for me. I watched the first season and liked it a lot. Now watching the second season and it's getting better each episode. And hey, just don't read reviews too much. Judge for your self.
Mark William For a Playstation Original it wasn't too bad at all. Sharlto played an excellent Walker/Diamond, his American accent was flawless. The production value was top notch, the effects worked, although they were few and far between. I loved the shots of the White PS4 staying in frame for obvious reasons. The rest of the cast were great, Noah Taylor played a rather intricate character and Eddie Izzard gave David Tennant a run for his money, with regards to portraying an eccentric monster. My only gripe, and this is the main reason why I am writing the review, is was why they cast younger actors for flashback scenes for Walker/Diamond & Johnny Royale, yet Retro Girl was still the same old actress. It didn't make sense at all. But apart from that, I thought this show was worth a second season and I'm glad it received the green light to continue.
secretzfan Powers is a show made by Brain Micheal Bendis based on one of his comic books that he had made himself. However strangely it is known that it does not follow the story that it is trying to tell in that comic very faithfully at all. Which is weird. That being said it is still a decent show overall. It had a good pilot episode and it grew as it went on. Though the story does waver at some points it did a fine job, but it does have some rough patches it can hopefully make up for in season 2. The child actors in this show are just bad! No really aside from Logan Browning everyone else sucks hard!Olesya Rulin sucked. I mean she was god awful in this. When she wasn't talking and just doing facial expressions they were horrible and when she talked she acted like she was lost the entire time. I mean seriously poor. Noah Taylor as Johnny Royale is one cheesy comic book villain, and he isn't even really that bad. His acting I didn't hate, but I wish his character wouldn't talk like he was some smoke addict. Susan Hayward is a good actress in this. While the character of Pilgrim isn't very compelling she is on screen. I liked her playing this character overall. She was decent here. Michelle Forbes is awesome!! I mean she really holds her own here. In fact most of the adult actors in the film do a good job here. Her character and relationship with Christian is so compelling as well. I really liked it a lot. Eddie Izard isn't too bad here either. His character starts off pretty one dimensional at first, but as the story goes on his acting ability also begins to shine in more and more and it is quite interesting to see when it does. Sharleto Copley is the best actor in this show without a doubt and his character is compelling, and it pulls you in and make you want more as well. Good job!!
