Kitsu When I first saw the commercials for this, I thought, what the hell, it sounds offbeat, think I'll watch it. I'm so glad I did! In a world that gives us shows about people stranded together on islands or ones that make us suffer through months of horrible singers until we get a full episode of talent, they FINALLY came out with a show that was quirky, original and captivating! I loved it so much, I recorded every episode to my DVR and still watch them! I'm sorry that it didn't last very long. But then again, the good shows never do. If you really want a fun show to lose yourself in, this is what you need to watch!
james-726-893190 I've marathon-ed this baby and I still crave for more. Despite the rushed ending it still covered the highlighted issues of all characters. I also grew fond of the hilarious PlayStation-like CGI. The acting is superb, the characters all have this endeavoring individualism that you can pinpoint whose who and what's who. Every episode has its own language and the series itself was just a mouthful of tasty pie. Real, addicting, pie. Sadly it was running during the time where most shows were canceled to avoid the risk of loss. O' well, maybe Fuller will think of reviving it someday but I wish the original cast to remain if so.
ericthedancinganimaladdi Four years ago, this show premiered and I was immediately entranced. I watched every episode religiously. There are absolutely no words to describe the greatness of this show. The Cast-From the eclectic Olive to the hardened Lily, you could never ask for a more perfect cast. Every single actor gets so into their character, it's amazing. There's not a single character to dislike either. The characters are original and the actors playing them are fabulous. Three of the four main characters were all rightly nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes, however only Kristin Chenoweth nabbed one, but every single actor deserved one. Also, the guest stars deserve recognition; whoever cast Eric Stonestreet, Joel McHale, Wendie Malick, Jayma Mays, Molly Shannon, and more is an absolute genius. The Plot-I can't stand cookie-cutter plots that are close to other shows' plots, but this one is so original, quirky, and imaginative you cant't help but love them all. From a dog breeder in a polygamous relationship who is killed by one of his four wives to a killer Frescorts (friend escorts) owner, every episode is more outrageous than the last. In between these bizarre murder mysteries lie morals and family drama-they get so much in in every episode. There is also so much witty humor (that never goes stale)-each episode left me in stitches. The Sets-Absolutely stunning. Enough said. The Special Effects-Even the special effects are whimsical on this show. They look real while at the same time are so over the top you can't help but crack a smile. The Music-Jim Dooley is a master at this show. The music is truly beautiful. It doesn't get in the way of the show by any means, but it just adds another layer ot the fantastical and whimsical aspect of the show.Unfortunately, this show was too smart to survive more than two seasons, although it deserved many more. It premiered in the worst possible time (The Writer's Strike of '07) and only has twenty-two episodes, but they are truly the best twenty-two episodes TV was ever lucky enough to have. I suggest this to anyone and even two and a half years after its finale it still garners so much praise from everyone who watches it.
plex The only reason I did not give this 10 stars, was the casting of the lead actor Lee Pace playing Ned, who's whimpyness/vulnerability really got on my nerves. Other than that, this show was one of network-TV's finest, if not the best. Fiercely original, refreshing, and highly entertaining, Pushing Daisies raised the bar of what mainstream TV rarely captures. The script was well written, fast paced, multi-dimensional and smart. The characters were all highly defined with full depth and understanding of the program material. Production values were practically unparalleled for a weekly show. Stunning set designs, use of color, and cinematography were such a stand-out they had a life/character all of their own. Flawless direction and editing. Great to see Swoosie Kurtz and Ellen Greene again- the characters were perfect for them. Of course Anna Friel is adorable, but the real stand-out for me was Kristen Chenowith who stole every scene, showcasing many of her talents and doing so perfectly. Its long overdue for Hollywood to give her a lead in a full- length feature, before its too late. I was very upset to learn of the show's cancellation, but not really surprised, it was too advanced for Mr. & Mrs Lunchbox on prime-time. I was hopeful a premium network would have revived it, but alas, we all lost out. R.I.P.
