Reviews

Gillian Peters I just finished watching the second season and I can say I am really impressed. The second season has longer plot lines which makes it more interesting. It also gives more chance for character development. We see more different sides from Gigi, Ava and Johnny. The actors do an excellent job on this, especially Elizabeth Gillies as Gigi stands out in both comedy and drama. She is also a very talented singer AND wrote some of the songs on this season's soundtrack. The subplot with Rehab and BamBam is just as funny as their plot line in season 1. Especially John Ales as Rehab is a gem to watch. All in all I think I liked season 2 even more than the first, which I already loved. Can't wait for a third season!
Thura Beckman I really loved Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll! I'm kinda sad the first season is over already. The best things about this show? First, Elizabeth Gillies as Gigi. She is a great talent, charming and beautiful. She portrays the different sides of Gigi very good and is a fantastic singer. Second, the music of this show is great. There are some really awesome songs like Animal and Complicated. Best is that they sing everything live on the episodes. Third, the story is hilarious. It is a great comedy, fast and rough and I laughed out aloud a lot watching it. Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll absolutely deserves a second season! I hope we get one next year with even more great music.
Casey Hayes I love this new show! It is truly a great show with comedy, music and drama, almost too much to contain in just a half hour episodes. I understand that for some people the show seems too rough, but give it a chance because there's much more to this show than at first glance. The cast is very well chosen, they all interact great. Elizabeth Gillies is such a talent, she is an amazing actress and an even better (if that is possible) singer. Elaine Hendrix is great too and the smaller characters played by Robert Kelly and Joh Ales (Bam Bam & Rehab) are the funniest. I also love that you can actually get the music of the bands they play in the series is really on Itunes and Spotify under the name of the bands: The Assassins and The Heathens. Now it's just waiting for the Gigi & Assassins to produce an album and go on tour.
crankyerma1984 Comedies about imaginary rock musicians always come off as feeling inauthentic and hacky. They invariably have crap songs that in no way, shape or form reflect the style and alleged talent of the imaginary band we've been hearing about throughout the script. They always misjudge time frames and cultural trends in terms of the backstory. And they choose pop cultural references that show the writer's ignorance about the subject matter. The biggest problem with these comedies is that they at once want to use the cool factor of the rock world but deflate that by making the characters pathetic dorks. Sadly, the uber talented Mr. Leary's attempt is no exception. There are constantly references and bits of dialogue that remind us how out of touch the writers here were with reality. Swing and a miss.If you want to see a project that authentically depicts the rock world, see "Almost Famous." It is no sitcom but the laughs that are there are genuine as well as the story and characters. That film is worth your time. This show is not.
