LOVED this show! I applaud Sundance for bringing it to us but detest how they screwed it and us over by handling this gem so poorly. Ever heard of supporting and advertising a quality show?! They had the guts to try the series but not enough balls to support it!!Extremely disappointed that because of Sundance there aren't more episodes! The Red Road had superb acting, great story- so much going for it. Some of Jason Momoa's best work to date!! He brought layers of depth to Phillip Kopus that made the audience root for him even when he was doing bad things! Within The Red Road was the whole gray area between good and bad and what motivates people and the mental and emotional anguish...Great work by the principals and supporting characters. It had action but was about people and relationships, actions and consequences and the ugly way people can treat one another. It was intriguing and captivating. You've got an incredible cast including Martin Henderson,Julianne Nicholson,Tamara Tunie,Mike Farrell and Tom Sizemore bringing compelling characters to life. I recommend this show to people all the time!

I'm not the biggest Jason Momoa fan and I found it hard to get past the fact that few Native Americans are in the lead roles of a series dealing with Native Americans, with Jason Momoa being Hawaiian, Tamara Tunie being African American, Lisa Bonet being a bit here and there and Tom Sizemore being more Jersey than anything else. But, after about two episodes, I'm glad I did. This series is a solid show. It's competently acted, deals with real Native American issues and manages to surprise you here and there. And I'm, still, not the biggest Jason Momoa fan....but, he's growing on me. I won't call it overly clever (like Peaky Blinders) or stunningly edited (like Sense8). What I will call it is sincere and blunt, earnest in its desire to tell you its story. And you can't ask for much more than that.

I just wrote this review, to say that the two guys who rated this series is one star, are overreacting here in every way. Those reviews are pure rubbish and their rating is in absolutely NO WAY fair to be honest. To give such a good series just one star, shows clearly the incompetence of those writers and that they have no clue about the good stuff, no matter what they say, its just not the truth. It just make me think, those guys must be racists, so i would not bother with the crap they wrote.I like the narrowing, the acting and I hope we can eventually see more, as it was rather a short series, but still a good one.

At some points during the show it seems that there can be pointless scenes and the pacing can be slow, however, the foreshadowing of several different characters and the room for future plot lines could be immense.Character development is spread in between the range of characters and gives us a chance to see and start to like the characters in the show, either good or bad. The different characters have deep personalities and are slowly revealed in different ways which creates a really grainy patch of the morals and decision making of these characters between either their families or moral beliefs. The Red Road leaves room for future development but barely shows what it is capable of with just the first season. this isn't the type of show that instantly sticks, this show will develop and become more and more intriguing as time passes.
