lanechaffin-964-63190 After reading the reviews about how slow the movie was, with some reviewers saying they struggled to get through it or quit watching altogether, I was kind of concerned. Decided to watch it anyway. My attention never wavered from start to finish. I didn't find it slow at all. There wasn't the computer-generated crap you see on so many movies today. Rather, it provokes thought and imagination from the viewer. If you enjoy watching good well-crafted movies you will not be disappointed.
Venturous1 I've gone to see sci-fi films to escape into space and cool CGI. But this is not that movie. I think about the science fiction I've loved the most- stories that take me somewhere I never expected to be. And those are the stories where the characters are challenged, rattled to the core, by the deepest questions of our lives. The big discovery of Another Earth isn't just a copy of our planet. It's about how that stunning fact rearranges our reality. Unless you want a bang-bang shoot em up space opera, stay away. To appreciate this one-of-a-kind movie, leave all your preconceived ideas the door.
susanstars Clever mind bender! I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but there is another fascinating aspect to this movie aside from the ending. It took me at least half of the movie to figure out the movie was being shot alternately from the perspectives of both Earth1 and Earth2. At the beginning, it is emphasized the two planets are "mirror earths". Clues: I noticed the main character's hair was parted differently in different scenes-- sometimes on the right, other times on the left. It reminded me that my own hair part looks different in the mirror. Thus, when we are being shown her mirror image, we have switched to the other world.Next, some of the sky scenes show the other earth being on either the east side or the west side of the moon. I don't think this inconsistency is an editing error. It's another mirror image situation. Finally, the clincher clue: In a scene at her home, as she goes upstairs for the night, we see assorted decorative items on the table next to the stairs. When she comes downstairs the next morning, ALL the items are different. Clearly we have switched to the other earth.Definitely worth watching!
aimeemommy-23-645219 Spoiler alert.Nothing happens. The new earth has no baring on the entirety of the movie. Any other hokey plot device could have been used instead of trumping up a grand sci-fi spinner. The movie is not a science-fiction, future earth, or any of the things that it pretends to be.
