callanvass Bring It On All Or Nothing is yet another DTV sequel, that is far from originality, but it actually manages to entertain fairly well, and that is quite a feat to pull off for being DTV. Unlike Bring It On Again, this one manages to put in effort to try and be an entertaining film,it gives us likable leads,a better storyline and most importantly develops the characters much better. Granted a lot of the stuff is very cliché|Like Camile picking of Britney as soon as she arrives at the school cause she's white| or the utter predictability of them developing a friendship, but it's all done with likability and professionalism. The characters this time around are quite likable as well. Hayden Panettiere has a lot of spunk, and quite an amount of charisma to carry a film, which is why she made Beth Cooper a modest success. The cheer leading sequences themselves are quite inventive and creative. I thought they did some great stuff near the end, where they managed to create a lot of excitement. I'm not saying this film is great,it's far from being great,it's clichéd,cheesy and gave me everything I expected, but it entertained me a lot more then I thought it would, and since it's DTV,I can't ask for much more then that.Performances. Hayden Panettiere is a Cutie no doubt about it,but she also proved she can carry a film. She reminded me of a young Reese Witherspoon. Good looking, charming, likable with that same mouthy sass that Reese has,and while I'm not saying she's in Reese's league, she has that kind of potential. Solange Knowles is alright here. Her Wigger talk got on my nerves after a while but she did OK for a singer. Gus Carr is the standard love interest, failing to inject any personality into Jessee, his chemistry with Hayden felt forced. Marcy Rylan played the B*tch to perfection,I couldn't stand her. Rhianna does OK in her cameo, she's certainly decent to look at. Rest of the cast do alright.Bottom Line. Bring It On 3 won't make you wanna go out and see it again any time soon, but for a DTV sequel it was actually fairly decent. It passed the time adequately and managed to give me some fair entertainment in the process. Worth a look on a rainy day,or if it's slow moving.5 1/2 /10
Jeffrey I expected this movie to be stupid. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. While it isn't exactly Oscar-worthy, this film entertained me for an hour and a half, which after all is the point of entertainment. The storyline is predictable, and most of the characters are one-dimensional. But the cast, led by the adorably cute Hayden Panettiere, manages to pull it off in a fun way without resorting to foul language or gratuitous sex. The script never takes itself too seriously, and the actors seem to realize that the story (such as it is) is simply to bridge between the cheerleading performances. Those are phenomenal, and a joy to watch. If you enjoy watching a group of very attractive young women and men performing some wonderfully choreographed and very athletic routines, then this movie will hold your interest. This was my first time seeing Hayden Panettiere, and I was impressed. Most of the rest of the performers, including Beyonce Knowles younger sister, provide similar eye candy. I don't know if I will ever watch this again, but I'm glad I saw it this time.
bob the moo At her high school Britney Allen is popular and the captain of an award-winning cheerleader squad. However when her father gets a new job she finds herself at a rather less white school with a rather rough and ready squad. Although she had promised to never cheer for another squad, Britney's rivalry with captain Camille sees her stepping it up and bringing what she had to a whole new squad. However her old squad is working harder than ever and confrontation is inevitable. It was a very wet Saturday afternoon where my partner (at time of writing – and things are now open for review in my opinion after this afternoon) selected this film from Sky and started watching it. Having seen and hated the first Bring it On film I wondered what a third one had to offer and was dismayed to find that the answer was "less". The set-up here is the same as the other film in regards two squads competing in who can jump around the most but it is even more basic than before. The plot has race in there as before but instead of a direct conflict we have apple-pie Britney learning to krump and "take it to the streets". To say I cringed is an understatement. The story is weak and only here and there are self-aware bits of humour about how dumb the characters are but they are few and far between. Instead we are not only expected to take it seriously but also to care! Neither of these were possible for me and it didn't help that I found the cheerleading action pretty repetitive and dull. The cast don't help. The novelty value of having Heroes' Panettiere in the lead role wears off real quick and all that is left is the horror of seeing her trying to "urban-up" her character as she goes along. She is pretty and has a good body but she cannot do much with this. Unfortunately for Solange Knowles, looks are not there to save her and instead she delivers a tired urban cliché, complete with neck twisting and finger snapping. The rest of the cast do much of the same and only one of two have dippy characters that are amusing. Oh and Rhianna can do much better than this – did this really help her shift units? Overall then this is a tired cliché-ridden film that offers very little in the way of entertainment value. The plot is poor, the characters paper thin and the action weak; it was hard to find anything in it to cling to as a reason for keeping watching, apart from the knowledge that what I watch next will feel better than it otherwise may have done due to the power of comparison. If you must watch a cheerleader film then by all means try the first Bring it On, which at least had budget and stars – after that I doubt you will feel a need to progress through the series.
victoriasxsecret I'd say this was a so-so movie, worse than the first movie and better than the second movie. The movie begins with Brittany's life as cheer captain. As her high school life is at it's peak she is forced to relocate to a neighborhood closer to her father's job. Throughout the movie there is slight racial tension, which I think that the movie could have done with out. And of course, much like the first two movies there's a sort of "forbidden love interest".Overall, it's an entertaining movie, but I wouldn't expect for it to win any awards based on content.
