smurf7 Cancun what i know about it from the Girls Gone Wild to Mexico dangerous clips,This film showed me a little more with less sleaze. I mean my understanding is a group of teens rent a big boat get sh_t faced and commit every sin under the sun, showing all their body parts, even the fake ones. Its mostly women with women and the blokes just watch on and try for a grope. Short of the American screams which is easily fixed by the mute button. It was interesting to see the other side like around Mexico itself, having never really traveled it showed another place that would interest me for a holiday after the young party has left of course.SPOILER ALERT Also interesting is when the group go out only the blokes pick up and some girls who have been playing hard to get all week, get Nasty because they wanted to be with them of course never mentioned it . That amused me and it reflects the games they play in how they will get burned. You do learn a lot about the American Teen culture that i see now in Australia where our young teens go to their Aussie Cancun the Gold Coast.SPOILER ALERT You also see a great time in this one bloke's life Alan where everyone in the crowd decides to vote for him as the best body, it shows them in a different light, they are not always thinking about themselves but about others around them, as i see over there if your not a Jock you are more or less forgotten. Alan steals the film all by being so honest with everyone, its refreshing to see because most of the cast are wearing masks and you never see the real people until its too late.Where is my time machine there was nothing like this 20 years ago when i was a teen. Don't be put off by the negative reviews watch and observe it won't hurt.
rbverhoef 'The Real Cancun' is a reality-movie but strangely enough it is still as predictable as a scripted movie. A couple of young males and females are put together in a house in Cancun, Mexico, during spring break and we got a movie version that combines MTV's "The Real World" and "Spring Break". Since this is a movie, rated R, we get a little more nudity, sex and swearing than we are used to I guess. In the house we have all sort of people including players, twin sisters, best friends and of course the nerd that doesn't drink alcohol. In a Hollywood script we would have sex, rejection, betrayal, the change of character from the nerd, a lot of embarrassing moments and of course a wet t-shirt contest. Maybe this is a Hollywood script after all since the expected things happen. That the character are real does not change much about that.Although as a movie 'The Real Cancun' is not something to recommend I realized some things near the end. I think this is a pretty good depiction of what happens in some circles during spring break. Maybe therefore I was never really bored. I would not say I was entertained but for ninety minutes this had its interesting and even funny moments. I actually smiled when the nerd finally kissed a girl.
RATTFINK God, I love watching Real World because season after season the show is filled with incredibly stupid people that I love to hate, doing stupid things on camera. Real Cancun is no exception... the surprising thing about this movie is that some of the cast members are pretty funny and cool people. My favorite was the drunk male model party animal... that guy was awesome, "You wanna make out?". And obviously the geek from Texas, he was crazy. The two black dudes were funny also. That's about it. Everyone else was white and annoying, especially that stupid b*tch from smalltown Wisonsin, she's a perfect example of the usual idiots that BMP cast on their shows... well, before Mary Bunim passed away. Hopefully J Murray can keep things rolling, they've already unleashed the monster that is Real World/Road Rules, there's no stopping that horribleness. Oh, I gotta say one more thing about the twins and the wet t-shirt contest, what's the point of seeing them naked? it's like looking at two little boys with no shirts on...
darkstar42 First of all, I think people should look at the genre that this is. As a movie I can see why some people didn't like it. Personally I thought it was excellent. It captured the people in as natural a setting as possible, and it had some great comedy. 7/10
