Wizard-8 If you have read the premise for this movie, no doubt that you will have recognized it as being a zombie take on such movies as "Westworld" and "Jurassic Park". I certainly did, but I sat down to watch the movie neverless, because I had never seen that combination before. Unfortunately, while there are two big ideas in this movie combined, neither idea is really executed in a manner that is both fresh and compelling. All the zombie scenes are really just retreads of what you have seen in many zombie movies before, without any zippy or enthusiastic direction to add some life to what we are seeing. The theme park section of the movie also has a strong air of familiarity to it. Also, both sections of the movie are executed in a way that doesn't manage to fully overcome its low budget, from some murky photography to sets that look pretty flimsy. Despite what I have just said, I wouldn't say this is really a BAD movie - it's a lot better than watching a blank wall for 90 minutes. But all the same, I could only recommend it to people who have never seen a zombie movie before , and never seen those two theme park movies I mentioned near the top of this review.
Leofwine_draca THE REZORT is a typical cheap and digital zombie movie, perhaps made with a bit more bloodshed than most in this genre. The plot is somewhat novel and involves a group of characters heading off to a remote island (it's one of the Canary Islands according to the on-screen map) where they're allowed to go around and kill zombies for fun. Inevitably the usual outbreak occurs, with the tables turned and our protagonists now themselves becoming hunted by the living dead. I'm a fan of Dougray Scott but he's on autopilot here, mainly struggling with his American accent, and the rest of the cast are worse. There's plenty of action, though, to take your mind off the familiarity of it all.
Mike Tomano As the tag line states: Jurassic Park meets The Walking Dead. The look and feel of the film plays out like an episode of The Walking Dead, while the island motif lends itself to a Lost comparison, as well. Good performances all around. Script is definitely derived from Jurassic Park (computer system failure), but the budget-restraints give it a fun vibe and keep it from looking overly slick. Nice synth-driven soundtrack compliments the proceedings. Folks visit a post- zombie outbreak island resort that allows visitors to hunt and kill the undead with automatic weaponry. The flood of zombie mayhem flicks in the last decade has offered much worse. Overall, it's fun little romp that doesn't disappoint.
web-92401 This is Jurassic World with Zombies. The characters are quite stereotypical so the English brats are real English brats and the morose protagonist is morose all the time. However, compared to Jurassic World, they are at least rational and suit their parts. You don't have a bimbo lady in charge of a billion-dollar park not knowing what to do when things go wrong. Instead you have a fairly dominant and strong woman in charge. The same with most other characters. The makeup and special effects are good and there's nothing that takes away from the fantasy world you're watching. The plot is okay. It's not Swiss cheese like most blockbusters. All in all, a good zombie movie. If they had thrown a few more million dollars on top of it, this would have been excellent.
