Reviews

Nick Hedge I don't know if this is considered a "spoiler" or not. Maybe it is to someone. So I am erring on the side of caution here.First off, IMDb's info on this show is incorrect. I have ALL of the episodes and there are 13 in all (including the pilot). The episodes are as follows:00 - Pilot Episode 01 - Her Embarrassed 02 - Nick Get Job 03 - The Cavewoman 04 - The Mascot 05 - The Shaver 06 - Rock Vote 07 - Andy Work, Nick Jerk 08 - Caveman Holiday 09 - Nick Sick 10 - Andy, the Standup 11 - Cave Kid 12 - Hunter & GatherersThe Pilot episode, even though it has the regular guys in the open up; Dash Mihok plays Jamie, Joel's brother in the pilot. Then, from there on Sam Huntington takes over as Andy, Joel's brother.French Stewart - Mr Busby, Joel's boss at Norskbild is in two episodes (not one). He appears in Caveman Holiday AND Hunters & Gatherers.Maybe only 9 aired - but to anyone who loves this show, there are 13 in all.
dfayathens I was looking forward to Cavemen since it was announced for ABC's fall schedule. I like the characters, Joel, Andy & Nick. I was assuming the character from The Geico commercials would be the star of the show and was a little disappointed that the show did not focus on him. However, he appears as the 4th friend from time to time. In actuality, I think Nick is the better, or should I say, more sarcastic of the bunch. Once you get into the show, they seem to be just like characters on any other sitcom. I do wonder how they can afford the rent on what appears to be quite a posh apartment. Seeing as Joel is the only roommate with a real job, while brother Andy and roommate Nick sit at home all day makes it a little unrealistic. Then again, that could be part of the show creator's intent. Ah but as with any new show I tend to like, they seem to disappear. I hope it's only on hiatus because of the Holidays and Writer's strike and that it will be back soon.
reviewerinoimdbino I know some idiots still want to criticize this show for even having the temerity to exist, but the scripts and the characterizations on this show are such gemlike delights from second to second that I feel a need to comment on it all.First of all, thanks to Julie White for existing. Her work as the snobby, clueless, effortlessly immoral and cavist mother of the girlfriend of one of our boys (and his co-op manager) is INCREDIBLE. She was superb in the original unaired pilot that you'll have to search out, and she's superb here. What line readings, what a comedienne.(BTW, the original pilot was somewhat more of a conventional sitcom. This tweaked version is definitely better, but they're both great. I just wish everyone could have seen the boys' Comedy of Embarrassment trials in that pilot. When they got stuck at the cavist country club and our hero accidentally falls into the fire pit and brandishes a branch like a club and is reduced to hideous grunts like, you know, a caveman--it's hilarious.) The other actors are each so distinct and so insightful in their delicate characterizations of each caveman. It's ironic that 3-episode guest star J.P. Manoux is back to his nerdy "type" here when he was so funny as a caveman himself in "Phil of the Future." I think the best caveman here, by a nose, is actually our boys' friend Maurice, played by Jeffrey Daniel Phillips. He was so funny in some of the Geico ads and in the cavemanscrib Web site. There is just something so incredibly caveman about him. He's a rebel, a hipster, a righteous dude, and assuredly one for the ladies, if you get my drift. It's like his eyes have seen everything there is to see and he's back for more.
Adam Lyerly I was a big fan of the commercials when they aired on TV and was pretty shocked that they decided to make a show based upon them. I mean, there have been many commercials that were funnier than those, but they never made a TV show based on any of them, such as a Geico Gecko TV show! I usually don't watch too much TV in the evenings besides sports. It is not that I don't enjoy all of the shows that are on, but they are all the same, and I cannot possibly keep up with all of them. But I was actually intrigued when they advertised that Cavemen was going to be a part of the Tuesday lineup.I will be the first to say that it is not laugh out loud hysterical humor that was prevalent in say Friends, Seinfeld, or King of the Hill. But that is why I think I enjoy it so much. It is different. There is no laugh track. The lighting is that of a drama show. And the plot is so out there that it actually really works well. I mean, just the idea of 3 cavemen living together in the modern world is just hilarious. The three characters are all different and they mesh so well.If you are a fan of things that are different and not of the norm, then give this show a try. I bet you will become a fan.
